Art in Stained Glass

Stained glass is an expression of light and colour. It is a perfect medium to bring a new vision to fine art. This detailed interpretation of the “Indian Church” by renown Canadian Artist, Emily Carr, is a commission for a client. It became a time consuming labour of love, however, the finished work is a resounding tribute to the artist.

Frank Lloyd Wright Inspiration

A Stained Glass Addition

A Stained Glass Addition

A large addition being constructed on the back of a lovely Westboro home certainly did not go as planned. The contractor, upon receiving a hefty progress payment, simply departed in the middle of the project, never to be seen again. Not only were the homeowners left high and dry, it soon became apparent that the suppliers and sub-trades on the job and even the contractor’s own employees had not been paid either. The project ground to a halt, unfinished and exposed to the elements as the colder weather approached. Luckily, a new contractor came to their rescue and completed the project...

Irish Pub Stained Glass

Patty Bolands Irish Pub is an institution in the heart of the Byward Market in Ottawa. Northern Art Glass fabricated and installed two floors of stained glass booth dividers, mirrors and door panels when Patty’s first opened the doors. Our favourite glass work graces the Carvery doors. These decorative panels feature complete beer bottles in the design. The carvery doors flip open up to reveal the kitchen and the chef has a command performance. An Irish pub is a good night out. Too much fun for some patrons. At least once a year we return to Patty Bolands to restore damaged stained...

Custom Bevel Doors

A great room 20′ in height seems to make even 9′ doors look rather small. These are two sets of custom bevel doors fabricated and installed by Northern Art Glass into a grand home built along the Ottawa river. Just around the corner, a similar pair of doors grace entryway to an office. Two other bevel doors lead into the kitchen. The bevels used in the doors are custom made with 1 1/4″ bevel-edges for maximum light refraction. A wide bevel also compliments the soaring height of the room. Note the curved tops and bottoms of the doors. Northern Art Glass was pleased to be a...
