We often get questions about paint on glass, and here's a bit of info for the curious.   Glass paint comes in powder form until diluted with water or glycerin. At that point it becomes ink-like in consistency until it dries back into a powder. It's painted on when wet, and then fired in a kiln after it's dry. While it's dry, it's easily smudged and wiped off of the glass, so it's imperative that it's handled carefully so as to not ruin the work. ⁠⁠And while working with it, one needs to wear a respirator as the paint powder...

The Maiden inspired by Alphone Mucha

This leaded panel was inspired by the illustrations of Alphonse Mucha, a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist, known best for his distinct style.   Mucha was famous for his commercial posters but he also worked in a variety of other media, including furniture, jewelry, and theatrical sets. He mostly worked in Vienna and Paris, but was also in Chicago, where he taught at the Art Institute, from 1904 to 1910. The densely patterned posters epitomize the Art Nouveau interest in natural forms, decoration, and a rejection of the anonymity of mechanical production. This magnificent piece was designed and assembled by our craftsmen to the client's specifications - Praying hands, bread and fish in a basket, a dove above, and the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Women's League adorning the cross in the middle.

The custom stained glass window was installed at St. Philip Parish in Richmond, ON. St. Philip’s is the oldest English-speaking parish in the Archdiocese of Ottawa and since 1818, it has been the religious, social and cultural centre for the Catholic Community in the area.
